Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner

One of the most beautifully written and disturbing books I have ever read. It reads as non-fiction, every chapter seems perfectly plausible. After finishing this, I had a difficult time wanting to read any other author for quite some time. Can’t wait to see how the movie compares. It is in limited theaters now.

Khaled Hosseini, A Thousand Splendid Suns

Like The Kite Runner, this is an exquisite piece of writing, and equally disturbing. Both of Mr. Hosseini’s novels give you a glimpse into a part of the world many of us in the States know nothing about. His words generate an immense amount of empathy for the two main characters, not to mention for the horrific events suffered by the Afghany people in reality. A gripping, and moving second work by this author. I can’t wait to read what he comes out with next.

One Response to “Favorite Fiction”

  1. Deb Says:

After I read “The Kite Runner” I yearned for more from this incredible author. Every book I read subsequent to it I would compare and say it was good, but not as good as the “The Kite Runner”. Mr. Hosseini’s lyrical storytelling transports you to another world and helps you to understand the commonalities in a culture so different from your own. I have seen the movie and thought it was a beautiful adaptation of the book. I have also read “A Thousand Splendid Suns” and loved it as much if not more than “The Kite Runner”. I highly recommend both books and the movie.
